Broadway has been around many years. It was started in 1873 as Pattison M. E. Church. It was located at what is now Yanders and 17th Street. By 1881 the congregation of 222 had out grown this space.

Pattison-7th Street
In 1881, the church was re-located to Bellefontaine and 7th Street (now 16th Street). as the city grew and its members moved, the 268 member congregation felt the need to move again.

Broadway 1894-1908
In 1894, the congregation erected the first of two buildings at 22nd and Broadway and officially renamed it Broadway M. E. Church. The first structure was wood framed and was later converted to a gym and classrooms when the stone structure was begun with the laying of a cornerstone in 1908.

Broadway 1908-1925
Dedicated in 1915, the church continued to grow and by 1918 was the largest Methodist congregation in Indiana with approximately 1,200 members.

After 25 years at the 22nd Street location, Broadway was in search of a new location to build a larger building. The current location at Fall Creek and Broadway was decided on to build the new building.

Groundbreaking
Construction started in 1925 with the first services being held in the temporary gymnasium at the end of September, 1926.

The first banquet in the new community room was held on October 2, 1927 with the first service in the Sanctuary, October 30, 1927. To announce it, the Deagan chimes pealed from the 112 foot tower beginning the new era in Broadway's life.
