A Community of Artists

The people of Broadway have always shared their talents. Each Sunday we are blessed by the talent and the leadership of our music ministry. Those involved in Broadway’s music ministry have a great deal of enthusiasm and vision and are planning to strengthen our music for mission in the local neighborhood and across the city. Those worshiping in the pews and other supporters also play an important role in this ministry. New members are often eager to support and strengthen the music program, building on the successful Broadway Presents series and the talent and imagination of our congregation.

The Miracle on 29th Street will allow for two major enhancements to the music ministries staff at Broadway. As Ministers of Music, the current Choir Director and Organist will be increased to full-time positions, entrusted with expanding music programs, including Broadway Presents and children's and adult music classes and choirs. They will support additional opportunities for worship and develop musical offerings that reflect the diverse international constituents of our congregation. Our ministers of music will also lead our congregation’s musicians in mission activities in the neighborhood and around Indianapolis.

The Miracle on 29th Street will also allow us to hire a new Coordinator of Art and Spiritual Life to uncover and invest in the gifts of the artists in our community, expanding the role of the arts in the life of Broadway. This position will also work to engage both the congregation and our neighborhood in literary, visual and performing arts endeavors to foster community, allow individuals to develop and refine artistic skills, and enrich the spiritual lives of members and non-members alike.
