Rev. Mike Mather - Pastor: Rev. Mather (Mike or Michael to his friends and family) has been one of the pastors at Broadway since 2003. It is his second tenure here. He served here from 1986-1991. Then he was sent to serve another church named Broadway in South Bend. Then he was sent back to this Broadway in 2003 (the Bishop thinks he can only serve churches named Broadway). Mike is married to Kathy and they have two sons -- Jordan and Conor. Mike loves the witness to the Gospel made by the people of Broadway and the privilege of serving as one of their pastors. He also works with congregations around the country, sometimes with a group called "Partners for Sacred Places" and also serves as a consultant for Asset Based Community Development - among secular and religious communities and organizations. Mike is the author of a booklet entitled "Sharing Stories, Shaping Community" and numerous articles in a variety of publications. Email |

Dr. Rachel Metheny - Pastor: Rev. Rachel has been around Broadway for over 12 years. She first served as the urban intern while attending Christian Theological Seminary (1990-1994). She returned in 1999, to serve as one of the pastors. She is excited to work again with familiar faces, to serve a church where there is real spiritual depth, and to worship with her family. In her spare time, Rachel loves to read, take walks, cook, and spend time with her family, which also includes 3 dogs and 1 cat. Email | ![]() |
Rev. Cynthia Wood - Pastor: The newest member of our pastoral staff is Rev. Cynthia Wood. A native of Indiana, she has spent her life in the Indianapolis area. She is at once a Pastor’s wife, sister, mother, grandmother, Critical care nurse, and ordained Deacon. Her passion in the parish is to serve as a bridge linking the needs of the world, with the people of the church, reminding all that we are called to service as disciples of Jesus Christ, wherever we live, work and play. In her free time, Cindy loves to spend time with Scott and Gracie, the big brown bear of a 70- pound puppy. She (Cindy, not the dog) walks and reads, enjoys travel, and loves all five of her grandchildren. Email |

Schuyler Brinson - Minister of Music and Organist: Schuyler Brinson, maintains a busy schedule as an accompanist, organist and conductor. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music and Organ from Anderson University where he studied with Randall Frieling. He has performed with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra and the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra and has played for Gospel Artist Sandi Patty. In 2007, he premiered a new work entitled “A Mass for Organ & Trombone” written by composer Rick Vale. In 2008, he won the Concerto/Aria competition at AU and performed with the AU Chamber Orchestra. In 2009, Schuyler received the Organ Performance Award from AU. He has served as the accompanist for the Anderson University Chorale and currently serves as the Staff Accompanist at Lawrence Central High School. Email |

Duane Carlisle - Minister for Children, Youth, and Families: Duane Carlisle has been a member of Broadway since 2000. Duane joined Broadway's staff in 2007 as Minister for Children Youth and Families. He is currently enrolled at Christian Theological Seminary working on a Masters of Divinity Degree. Duane loves being a Dad to his two beautiful children, Daniel and Mari. In his spare time he likes to make pottery in his home studio and also enjoys cooking and entertaining friends. What Duane loves most about Broadway is the way it celebrates all people and values their gifts and talents. Email |

Terri Coleman - Administrative Assistant: Terri has a dual role at Broadway as an Abundance & Blessings Animator/Administrative Assistant. Her role as an Abundance & Blessings Animator encompasses promoting the gifts, assets, talents, and dreams of community residents, fostering connections between others, strengthening community networks, and assisting in the development of people-centered institutions and resources. Additionally, as an Administrative Assistant she provides support to the pastors, church staff, and the parish in a variety of capacities. In her free time, Terri likes to read, travel, shop and spend time with family and friends. She is the biological mother of one daughter, Daniele, and the extended mother of many. “Broadway is an awesome place to work…I love how engaged they are within the church and outside in the community.”Email |

Randy Ficklin - Custodial Staff: Randy is a custodian at Broadway. He was born in Mississippi and moved to Indianapolis in 1975. Randy has a 21 year old son, and likes fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. "It's a real pleasure working for BUMC." Email |

Karen McAleavey - Administrative Assistant: Karen and her husband, Marc, became Mapleton Fall Creek neighbors in September 2003 when they purchased a home just four blocks from the church. After stumbling across a Jubilee Summer Program photography exhibit in the Glendale Mall in the summer of 2005, they began attending Broadway and became members just a few months later. Karen is a graduate of Butler University and spent six years in the commercial real estate field before changing career paths. Now Karen is excited to join Broadway's staff as an administrative assistant with her own assistant--her infant son, Max! If you're ever in the church office, be sure to drop by and say, "Hello!" Jim Fore - Web-servant / Minister of Sound and Light: Jim came to Broadway in the early 1990s after visiting several churches looking for a church that embraces his beliefs. He has worked in the telecommunication business for many years. In 1997 he started volunteering as the sound tech for the 10:45 worship service. He recently received his Masters in Media Arts and Science focusing on multimedia and web design. Jim became responsible for Broadway's website during the summer of 2006 and is the process of implementing new features. Email |
