What Would Jesus Buy:
It seems appropriate to ask ourselves to consider as we go to the shopping for Christmas presents – What WOULD Jesus Buy?

So what would a “generous and careful economic life” and practice look like? Perhaps we could sharpen our focus to see what people in our parish offer in the way of goods and services? Do you know local vendors who might make a product – clothing or some other gift for a loved one? If you do, e-mail it to Mike or call it in and we’ll put it on the web site and have it available in hard copy in the office.

Pottery
Do you know that Gary Sharp, a furniture maker, potter, and artist from our neighborhood, has pottery and other objects which will be for sale (check out the web site or the church office to find out when and where).

A member of our church, Duane Carlisle, makes beautiful pottery.

Parker Pengilly and Mari Evans are two in our congregation who have published books in the past year and would make a great gift to a reader.

What about shopping from small local markets around where you live or like “Goose: the market” at 25th and Delaware? Or buying holiday goodies from any of the talented cooks like Ellen Nylen available in and around our parish (congregation and community)?

What about supporting some of our folks who are taking mission trips to another side of the world or good ministries like Alice Langford’s work with those in the larger community with HIV/AIDS or Phyllis Newton’s good work with prison ministries, Freewheelin' Community Bike Cooperative and Joe McIntosh with the Indiana-Kenya Partnership?
