Edna:

Edna is a flower gardener. All of her flowers are either starts someone gave her or she found them. Edna knows a lot of other gardeners in her area. She said that sometimes if she has flowers she would take plants to the elders in her neighborhood and plant them. Edna said that she knew one woman who had about 2000 day lilies growing in her yard, and people in the neighborhood were able to go over and grab some for their own yards. Edna said that sometimes she sees someone who hasn’t put a plant in their yard yet, so she will plant it for them. Edna said people don’t like that too much, because they want to plant it themselves. Edna said she would take us around to meet other gardeners in her neighborhood, especially one woman who plants cotton. Edna thought about the possibility of gardeners going to take a trip to a certain garden. Not only is Edna a passionate flower gardener, but she also has a beauty shop set up in her home and she works at a hospital. The gardener comes out not only in Edna’s yard, but her home as well. Everything in her home is connected to flowers. Edna’s vision is that the world would have an etiquette class for everyone. Edna talked about how someone goes into another culture, but is unaware of certain manners and traditions expected, and they offend the culture. If they had an etiquette class on that culture, then the person would have been knowledgeable on norms of that community. Also, Edna said that people don’t even know how to properly set a table, and etiquette class would help them learn.
