Rev. Aaron Hobbs is the 38th Sr. Pastor of Broadway United Methodist Church. He began his appointment in July of 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Aaron and his family are excited to be part of making God’s beloved community visible with the people of Broadway.
Aaron received a BS in Education from Indiana University, and a MDiv from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, where he was a Presidential Scholarship recipient. He completed Clinical Pastoral Education at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, and was a member of Cohort 4 of the Wabash Pastoral Leadership Program.
He currently serves on the INUMC Central District Operational Team, is a member of the #HelathyMe Learning Community, IU Health’s Maternal Child Health Project for Congregations, the PATH4U Community Advisory Board for Reproductive Justice, and is collaborator in the HIV advocacy work of IUPUI Community Scholar, Mr. Harold Brown.
For the past 9 years Aaron has served as a pastor at Noblesville First United Methodist Church. In 2016 he founded Teter Organic Farm on a 120-acre parcel of church-owned land with a mission to “combat food insecurity, to build community through meaningful relationships across barriers that sometimes divide us, and to educate children and adults on the importance of environmental stewardship and care.” Over the past 5 seasons Aaron worked to cultivate the gifts of the farm’s neighbors and congregation members to grow 40 varieties of USDA certified organic vegetables on 4 acres of land and in 3 greenhouses.
For fun Aaron loves to read non-fiction, short stories, & poetry, play golf, coach his daughter’s soccer team, take road trips with his family, listen to live music, and watch his favorite sports teams (Chelsea FC, Indy 11, Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, and the Cleveland Browns – Aaron lived in Cleveland area for 2 years during high school).
Rev. Hobbs is married to Michele Justus-Hobbs who is a third grade teacher, public education advocate, and mentor. Aaron and Michele are the proud parents of Emma Hobbs who is a fun loving 13-year-old. Aaron’s mother is a retired United Methodist pastor living in Florida (with his father), and his Brother-in-Law (his only sister Amber’s husband) is currently the Sr. Pastor of Avon United Methodist Church.
